Jiia Meredith has been deeply invested in her Search and Rescue “career” for over 20 years. Little did she know that rescuing a Red Heeler pup, “Maverick” would turn her life around completely. Maverick was obsessed with a fun chase of the ball. This obsession turned into becoming a Nationally Certified K9 Team for SAR. Maverick would do anything for a few tosses of the ball…and that he did. Serving from coast to coast across the USA, “Team Maverick” was able to bring home over 13 live and lost victims and recovered over 27 deceased. After the passing of the beloved Maverick, Jiia took a long two year break in her SAR endeavors….. continuing to keep her basic SAR skills sharpened, Jiia returned as an Instructor and Evaluator for NASAR. She also trains K9’s and K9 Teams in many aspects of SAR to include HRD, Live Area, scent and non-scent discrimination and forensics. Jiia and her team travel the USA training and evaluating teams.
